Science Fair

Each year West Side School participates in the regional Healdsburg Area Science Fair, and sponsors a Science Fair Celebration Day.

Science Fair Winners:
This year, top honors went to the following students: Sixth grader, Stefan Masselink placed first in his grade’s division for the Physical Sciences, and he received the honor of Best of Group for sixth-seventh-eighth grades; fourth grader Haley McPhail placed first in her grade’s division for Life Science, with the honor of Best of Group for third-fourth-fifth, and, kindergartener Judah Naujokas placed first in his grade’s Life Science division, receiving the honor of Best of Group for K-first-second. In the Physical Science division, fifth graders Ivan Thorpe placed 2nd. and Emma Linowski received an Honorable Mention: fourth grader Jordan Whitemore made Honorable Mention, and first graders Annabelle Anderson and Aria Motchar both placed third. In the Life Sciences division, in addition to Haley, fourth graders John Dalton-Ballard placed third, and Freya Winters received an Honorable Mention. On Technology Day, two West Side teams were recognized for their Junior Rube Goldberg Machines. This year’s challenge was to create a machine that would awaken someone from sleep, using seven steps. Third graders Miles Anderson, Cameron Keller, and Sam Naujokas received an Honorable Mention for their project titled, “Wake Up and Have Some Orange Juice.” The Most Spirited award went to third grader Grace Pellinini and her Geyserville friend, Holly LeGallee, for their project, “Roosters Day Off.” Congratulations to our science scholars!!!
