It’s that time! The Future Farmers Country Fair and Twilight Parade are this week! Not only is West Side School in the parade, FEF has a booth! Please come play games, buy kettle corn from us or even sign up to work a couple hours! All proceeds go to our children’s enrichment programs! Please see the included volunteer sign up sheet! We can always use the help.

So much blooming in the garden, but lets talk baby chicks! Added two this week to the flock. Both were born in Kindergarden. The yellow chick is Peckorino and we are still working on the name for the other wee one. To keep them calm in their new digs, third graders read to the little ones, who especially enjoyed the book of jokes.

In visual art, we’ve been busy turning a metal trough into a welcoming alternate universe for baby chicks, parading around our giant bird puppet in K-2, making zines in 4th and 5th grade, and tie dying shirts and learning about screen printing in 6th. I also loved getting to work with brave parents for our one minute drawing exercise during open house!

Baseball is in full swing at West Side. Students are welcome to bring their own gloves for PE but please leave the bats at home. If you have any old, used or extra gloves that need a new home, we would happily take them and give them a bit of extra love. You can leave them with the office and we will make sure they go to good use.

This is our fourth grade geology field trip to Riverfront Park.

Thank you to all our wonderful teachers and staff members at West Side! We brought breakfast
treats for them on Monday and Flying Goat generously donated coffee for them on Monday
and Friday. Thank you to Fogbelt that provided us with an amazing discount to provide lunch on
Wednesday! We appreciate all that our Teachers and Staff do!!
